The Ganzfeld Procedure is a technique used in the field of parapsychology to test for ESP. When two patients meet during this eponymous experiment something unexpected happens – they fall in love. Inside their minds! Featuring ‘Dog Days Are Over’ by Florence & The Machine.
So many people have sent me a link to this video… and for good reason. It’s phenominal. If you can get over the fact that it is completely CG you can start to appreciate it for the stunning piece of art that it is. I remember seeing Kahn’s Exeter Short Film when it appeared on Vimeo a while back and being knocked back by what one individual can achieve and now seeing the whole project in its totality is breathtaking. There are so many lighting techniques throughout the film, all working to achieve a huge amount of depth and creating a variety of scenes, from wide breathtaking environments, to close and intimate spaces. Each shot has been crafted with an artistic eye. Every individual composition would stand up to scutiny on a gallery wall and yet they flow together like visual poetry… It’s incredible… Beautiful.
Stunning animation, cinematography, sound design, lighting, modelling, texturing, etc etc… Very much like a 19th century fairy tale, Alma is as haunting as it is beautiful.
Alma is Rodrigo Blaas’ first short film as a director. Originally from Spain, Rodrigo Blaas has worked in animation for more than ten years on some of the biggest box office animations for Pixar and Blue Sky. His debut short brings some of the best artists in their field… French animator Bolhem Bouchiba, character designer Carlos Grangel and Sergio Pablos, Art Director Alfonso Blaas, music composer Mastretta and sound designer Tom Myers. Alma has bagged tonnes of awards on the festival circuit already and is available online for a limited time over Christmas.
This is the most heartbreaking short film I have ever seen… If you’re a dog owner or lover this will probably leave you broken.
It’s the tale of Jason Wood’s last few moments with his dog ODEN… It’s the sharing of a moment so powerful and honest you can feel their sorrow deep within your soul.

Based on a novel by Richard A. Lupoff, 12:01pm is the story trapped in an hour of time, unable to escape despite his best attempts. This first adaptation of the story was nominated for an Academy Award and originally aired in 1990.
The story was later adapted into a feature under the title 12:01 which was released in 1993 alongside the cult classic Groundhog Day. The creators of 12:01 struggled in a battle of the law against the producers of Groundhog Day, believing they had stolen the 24 hour time loop premise but apparently gave up after 6 months of blood, sweat and tears.
